Speaker at our meeting

The guest speaker at my county's Special Education Advisory Committee meeting for February got some attention in one of our local newspapers! I am hoping this will inspire parents of children with special needs in our area to become more involved with their childrens' education.

We are hoping to set up a monthly "Respite Day" locally in the next few months.

I recently went to a session on a parents' group on autism and diet.It was fairly general (almost needed to be, given varying situations) but it was still quite interesting. That might be a topic for a parent group for you (not for education, obviously). I'm really an advocate for telling people about the diets and books, and about the link between autism and diet.
impacts my daughter. "Nourishing Hope for Autism is a godsend -- it covers all autism diets, not just the common GFCF! Parents will find a wealth of information and should purchase this one if they want to quickly understand how to apply autism diets and why they're important to children with autism.

Hi Liz, Besides the Advisory Committee I am on, I also attend a support group for parents of children with autism. They have had meetings in the past before about various diets. I think many of the parents there have their children on the GFCF diet.

My son is not on any special diet right now, but I am interested in helping to improve his nutrition. Who knows, maybe we will try the GFCF diet at some point. My nephew with autism is on it and his parents claim it is helpful for him.

I will take a look at the link and the book you mentioned, thanks for your comment!
