Bad Court Decision in California

This isn't right.

Evidently this court in California has forgotten about a certain seven letter word that we Americans value very highly: F-R-E-E-D-O-M. It's a sad day when courts start messing with the rights of parents who, the last time I checked, have the primary responsibility of raising their own children!

Freedom and choice should be every parents right.

How horrible! We always joked about it being "The People's Republic of California." This is no laughing matter!

Most laws are so porous that ingenius people can find a loophole. I sure pray parents can find a loophole here, too! I would move before I allowed the state to take over my rights as a parent.

I do not home school my child but I do believe that parents should have the freedom of choice to decide if they do want to teach their child at home.
I understand some of the issues that the parents raise as I have considered such issues myself. I am a Humanist and I feel that they WAY some issues are taught in schools is not correct.Too often I have seen things taught as absolute truths when really the children should be taught they are possible truths.
Parents should also be allowed to decide when they feel their children are ready to be taught certain things and only a parents know their child well enough for that.

A - I think the problem in our public schools is that in order to be "fair" to everyone, it is to the point where NO TRUTH can be taught, so that students come to believe that truth is whatever they want it to be. It's a real dilemna.. public schools certainly can't cover all religions, but how can you fully educate someone without the principles and truths of their religion? Homeschooling is a good alternative for those who cannot accept such an education for their children. It is upsetting to see local authorities and courts getting in the way of parents who are trying to do a good job of raising their children. The state cannot raise children, haven't we seen evidence enough of this in this past century from the disastrous examples of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union? Yet, that is the direction that this court decision in California is pointed to, "the state" should determine how to raise your children!

I just think things are a bit frightening anymore. I want to home school my kids. I would hate to be told by the government I was not allowed to do so.

This is another example of a judge creating laws instead of interpreting them. I can't believe it, most of the homeschool kids are doing far better than the public school kids b/c the schools stink in CA. I am in a homeschool charter program that is "protected" at this point...
