Recommended Reading - Unstrange Minds by Roy Richard Grinker - Is there an autism epidemic?

"This book therefore addresses the clear rise in the prevalence of autism - and, more precisely, the range of conditions now called autism spectrum disorders-- by exploring the cultural factors that have changed our perspectives on children and mental disorders. The shift in how we view autism, in other words, is part of a set of broader shifts taking place in society."

From Unstrange Minds by Roy Richard Grinker

"Even dead bodies can float downstream, but it takes a real man, a real woman, to swim against the current. " Bishop Fulton Sheen

Autism causes my son to learn and experience the world differently than "neurotypical" children

"The thinking patterns of individuals with ASD are markedly different from the way in which 'normal' people think. Because of this, too much emphasis is placed on what they 'can't do.' While impairments and challenges do exist, greater progress can be made teaching these individuals when parents and teachers work on building the child's strengths and teach in a manner that is aligned with their basic pattern of thinking."
